so I recently got a 88 jimmy and a few days after I got it it started. Whenever I hit the brakes my right turn signal comes on and stays solid. And if I use the right blinker it turns my flashers on?? A few days ago it started working fine but only for a few minutes. I’m a total wiring noob any advice is appreciated.

When you say that you hit the brakes and your turn signal comes on, do you mean the indicator on the dash?
If so, it could be wrong bulb in one of the sockets or a poor or missing ground most likely at the dash. First thing to do, turn on the hazard flashers. Walk to front and rear. Observe that they are all blinking same rate and same brightness. If one is out or different, you'll need to inspect further.
Most issues with turn signals are bad ground, bad/incorrect bulb, or a bad turn signal switch. A flasher fuse would not affect one single bulb. Good luck

Try sitting inside, hold brake on, slowly moving turn signal switch up and down. It sounds like a bad switch. But check bulbs first so not to waste funds

If the filament in the bulb that lights up when the brakes or turn signals are used breaks, and touches the other filament for the parking lights,it can cause all kinds of weird backfeeds and make it do that--also poor or no grounds at the tail lights ,sockets or the harness wires can do that..

If someone put a 2057 bulb in place of an 1157,that will cause issues sometimes too,but usually the only issue then is the parking lights come on brighter than the brake or turn signals because the bulbs are wired "reversed" compared to each other..but having one in the system could foul things up..

Sometimes a trailer hitch light plug gets installed butcher fashion or develops a short after years of exposure to road salt too..

I've had flashers go bad suddenly and cause weirdness as far as the dash indicators not going off when they should or the signals failing to blink all the time too..

Unless you wiring has been messed with, it's probably going to be a problem with one of the bulbs, likely a dual filament bulb in the right rear corner.... maybe one of the turn signal filaments is touching the brake light filament, sending a funny signal every time you hit the brakes? Also take a good look at the socket.

The brake light filament is the same as turn signal. The other filament is the tail light. The change from brake light to turn signal is through the turn signal switch.

could also be grounding through the turn signal switch. give the light socket a known good ground and see what happens.

PO added trailer wiring? If it's there, remove it, repair, and if still desired, do it right.

May not even be present, or the problem here, but often times, trailer wiring is done wrong and causes a host of issues.

So an update, I found out if i slowly turn the right blinker on and kind of push it up a bit hard it makes the blinkers work prefect until i use the left turn signal and it makes it start over again but not every time.

How hard is that to replace? Something I can do myself? I know the guy I bought it from had some work done to the column because I found a receipt for $500. I might call the mechanic and see if they replaced the switch or did something else. It was only a few months ago.

You need a special tool to remove steering wheel and another to hold the lock plate down, then a good pick and small flat screw driver to work the snap ring out of the Grove.
I cut the large flat plug off the old switch, after I check that the wires all match new switch. I then tape bailing wire to the old wires. Remove Philips screws pull switch and wiring out, leave bailing wire in the column. Now you need to remove wires from new plug, take a picture first, the plastic plug will have a tab that locks the terminal in. Once that is done tape the wires to bailing wire, as neat and small as you can. Gently pull push wires back through column. Might need to use tilt to make it easier. Replace plug ,screws, lock plate, wheel. Gtg
