Got lost in my searching:confused: and have a rim ? for the experts:bow:. Quick recap of parts: 91 K5 w/ 14bff from 84 3/4 ton (will disc later, drums now), srw d60 from 86 1ton and 37/12.5/17 Pro Comps w/6" lift. I want to order up my black steelies (Discount tire? Or have a better suggestion?) and am not certain of backspacing. I probably should have been able to find searching, but didnt, mostly 15" and grinding stuff. I dont want to end up with a Tijuana stance :eek1:.

Thanks alot,
Dustin

I would recommend 4" and it should tuck the tires in pretty nice. I run 4.25 on a 15X8 and I get about 1" outside the fender, if that much.

The wider your rim the more it will stick out with 4" backspacing.

And what is a Tiajuana stance?

Thanks, Obijuan too.
The rims would be 17x8 (sorry, forgot that) and 1" or less outside the fender seems fine. Just want what performs best all around and havent done this before. Discount tire guy said 6mm offset or 3.75 and Ive read 4" to 4.25 in my searches here (confirmed in this thread as well). I would rather get the info from someone like yourself who runs a similar setup. Wasnt to confident in the Discount guy after my searches here.

Tijuana stance to me is tires overly outside the fenders, thats all. For the record I love Tijuana. Well what I can remember of it anyways:doah:

So would you personally go 4" if doing it again? Or is 4.25 optimal in your opinion?

Thanks for helping a NOOB:waytogo:,
Dustin

Tijuana stance like this? 37x12.5 IROKS on 15x10's w/2.5" backspacing. I know "nice blocks" (just temporary). I should have went w/15x8's.

I ordered mine as 3.75 but it was a misprint and they came as 4.25. My only issue was the amount of grinding I had to do but with 17s that is not an issue for you.

Here is the stickout on mine.

Thanks for the pics guys, appreciate the info youve all given me:waytogo:.
Ill post pics when Ive got the axles back under my ride with the shoes on it.

Have a great day,

Summit has pretty good prices on rims, and cheap/free shipping. I searched for a couple of months last year when I was thinking of going to 17" rims and couldn't find anything other than 4.5" BS in a 17x8 (steel wheels).

Thanks, I call them next.
I just got pricing from Discount in my town and heres the breakdown.

17x8 black wagons w/ 4 or 4.25" (both available according to them) $81 ea.
Install kit = stems & lugs w/locks $45 complete.
Center caps = $7.50 ea.
Total w/ my tires mounted out the door $534.21.

I believe theres still some money on the table that I can take a swipe at.
He was a good salesman and did try to close the deal on the phone (not used car salesman closing). He wanted the chance to meet/beat other pricing I might get.

Im calling Summit just to see their $$$ but will go with Discount since Summit cant mount my tires.
Thanks again,
Dustin
