Ok, I have a small dilemma, I have a friend who has brand new 35x12.50x16.5 BF Goodrich tires on 8 bolt rims who is selling them cheap, but my truck uses 6 bolt rims. Eventually I will get a 14 bolt rear and convert it to use 6 bolt wheels as I believe the 8 bolts that come with the tires are not very nice. I found some rims on summit racing I may get to go with these tires, but I am not sure if these rims will work or not. If I knew the stock rally wheel specs I could compare them, but I don't and I tried searching only to find nothing. I figured I should ask the experts here for advice. My question is will these tires fit these rims, and will they fit my k10 with a 6 inch lift? These are the rims I was looking at: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/PCW-52-65883/

Thanks for the help, it's greatly appreciated!

Ull b making a strong part weak by converting to 6 lug...save up and find some 8 lug wheels u do like...

To answer your question, those wheels will get the tires you are looking at on your truck as it sits now with the 6 lug axles. I didn't think they even made 16.5" wheels in anything less than an 8 lug. Keep in mind though that 16.5 tires are going by the wayside. Certainly not overnight, but tire choices for that size are disappearing.

When you go and upgrade the rear to a 14b, even a semi floater, you should keep it 8 lug and upgrade the front as well. Just get a matched set of axles from a 3/4 ton and put them both in. This will usually get you better gearing and bigger brakes. Keep the 8 lug wheels you get with the tires for when you do this. They're wheels, really, who cares what they look like. Post up a pic, they can't be that bad.:D

Keep the 8 lug.

Swap a 14 bolt SF or FF in the rear, and swap 8 lug outers on your front Diff.

Thanks for all the replies, I will most likely keep the 8 bolts if they aren't as bad as they sound, it's not like I can't shine them back up. It wouldn't hurt to buy them and save them back for a future axle swap, I know a guy who has a 70's 3/4 chevy for sale and he only wanted $300 for the whole thing. I'll stay away from 6 bolts if it does weaken the axles. Besides, the extra $300 for new rims can get me that pickup instead! :thumb:

I did`nt know you could get 16.5s that are 6 bolt. Thats kind or cool, but if you did buy them and changed your mind I think you would have a hard time selling them.

Change to 8 lug would be the way to go.

But really the idea isn`t that bad.

GM had some trucks come factory with 6 lug 16.5" rims & tires..I bought four rims from a '71 GMC K1500 like the one I had ,that had 12.00x16.5" tires on 6 lug rims for 100 bucks back in the day,the rims were only 5 or 6" wide, but the big tires worked well on them just the same...I got them in the late 80;s,they were still in my shed till last year, when I saw a wanted ad on CL ,and some guy was loking for 6 lug 16.5" rims for a boat trailer,I got 65 bucks for the 5 rims ,and he was happy to get them--new ones for trailers are available and will work on our 6 lug trucks, but they are about 50 bucks each last time I looked...I had access to about 30 brand new 16.5" tires (bias ply though!) in various sizes from 7.00x16.5 to 950.x16.5 at the junkyard I worked at,my boss bought a tractor trailer load of brand new tires from a local post office maintenence garage, when a lot of them were "obsolete" and didn't fit most of the new mail trucks...we didn't have to buy a tire for years!..he got over 250 tires for 300 bucks, most were Firestone "Town & Country" snow treads, that were great for plowing and off roading..nylon cords rode like iron, but you couldn't puncture them!..
