I'm changing a ring/pinion on a stock 10-bolt (I know) ratio of 3.42. I've removed the carrier and have the old ring gear off. The photo attached is the opposite side of the ring gear and syder gears. My question is....is this normal???? The center area has a depressed - almost worn where the axle enters the spyder gears. Can any one familiar with this provide any advice about the condition of this part???? HELP !!

spiders rideont he pinion lock shaft, the wcrew you have to remove to pull the shaftout to let the spiders go screws into the holeint he sideof the lock shaft, sometimesclaled pinion shaf,tbut dont confuse that with pinion gear or pinion stem,
