I am still at a loss for words right now. I loaned my truck to my FIL to haul a motor and got a call early this evening that he was in an accident with it. Not much that is going to be salvageable as far as the body is concerned. I should be able to save the axles and drivetrain though. Looks like he drifted off onto the wet shoulder then wasn't able to pull it back.:doah:

Wow, that sucks Kenny....looked solid too. Sorry for the loss, is the FIL OK?
 
That could have been a lot worse with the motor flopping around in the back. Looks like a passenger would have got clobbered.
 
Wow. Thank god he didn't hit a tree. Was the load secured? Looks like it torpedoed the back of the cab/bed. These trucks are pretty tough it seems. At least he is ok, thats the important thing. Best wishes to you, him and your family.

BTW, nice of the tow truck driver to make use of the shackles you installed on the rear. I know its totaled, but he could have at least not damaged the rear springs/shackles!

He actually hooked onto the receiver hitch to pull it around. The shackles were not in a good location to hook onto for bringing it around.

I just found a K5 blazer on Craigslist for $500 in need of a little work... I think I am going to run up and grab it tomorrow morning if it is still there.
 
The first and last time I loaned one of my trucks this happened to me, all parties were ok and the truck was repairable....I feel for you bud.

I'm going to use that pic of the rear of the cab to lend a bit of weight to the arguments I have now and again with loved ones who don't secure loads well enough in my opinion.

Trucks are easy to replace...family not so much. Just think of the beer credits you have stored up now with the FIL :thinking:

Wow man! Glad he is ok. Looks like the driver side is untouched, and maybe both doors. My buddy here in town has an 86 SWB for sale. Not sure if you want a K5 or another pickup though.
 
BRUTAL! Glad he's ok, and very sorry about your truck bro. It was coming along nicely. Come up with something else when you can. I'm sure FIL feels really bad about it too.
 
This the same gut that was making the hi-steer arms for you--that never got made? If it is, i would be trying to figure out how to distance myself from him, without pissing off the wife!

glad to hear your fil is ok. looks like its time to build it bigger and better and have the fil foot the bill for it lol
