I went offroad about a week ago to have some fun . Yesturday I hear a banging coming from my rear suspension and discover that my shock is just resting on the leaf spring. The top part of the mount just broke off. I know I need to weld it but just wondering if anyone else has had this happen to their truck. Hopefully the weld will hold up.

Somewhat common occurance on these trucks.

Welding works fine, albeit a difficult spot to actually get to and see what your doing with the welder.
You can also get an inboarding kit from a couple different places that would negate the need to weld.

I had to do this on my '88 K5 drivers rear. It was the 1st big project I had to do. My buddy is a master mechanic; came over laughed and said "lot's of luck"Dropped the gas tank and went at it with an angle drill to get the old bracket out. totally sucked but got it done.

have fun :)
