My 83 has 2x3 thick wall with a conservative rocker cut :

My aborted truggy project ( someday I will find direction or sell ) has scrap steel which I think is closer to to 2x4 and a little more agressive cut of the rockers but mild opposed to boatsiding :

There is a couple pics of mine in my webshots listed in my sig. In the misc fab album I believe. They are 2 pieces of 1.5x1.5" 250 wall square tube welded together & then a 1" .120 wall hrew kicker tube is welded on. So overall my rockers are 1.5x3" with the 3.5" extended kicker tube.

I have bent the kicker tube on rocks but it is still doing its job well. I personally think the kicker tube helps me in alot of spots and keeps me farther away from the body.

If I had to do it over I would use 1.25 or 1.5" tube for the kickers but the 1" is holding up ok to several rough seasons of rockcrawlin.

Here is mine, they are a conservative cut too, I did have to trim the bottom off the doors to let them shut. They are 2x2" square tubing, with 2" DOM round tubing.

Depends on what year and whether it is a Blazer or a pickup as to what you weld it to . I wish I had some pics of mine in progress .

Mine ( Blazer ) looked like it was a perfect pocket for welding 2x3 into . And there are also body supports to weld to , and the door sills .

it's a 73 long bed pickup, and the rockers are rotted, i wanted to go basically the legnth of the cab

mtnman in Parks AZ , did his pickup sliders where the bed is cut , but the sliders extend back that far . The bed is not welded to the slider . Maybe he can get some pics up .
