Wow I did a search on rock sliders and couldn't find a definitive answer anywhere? But I'd like some advice after I narrow the criteria.

I'm not going to cut the body.
I can do them out of rectangle or tube.
I am more inclined to go to the frame as I would add another cross bar (slider) between frame and rocker. These will be used as rock sliders but I am old and slow...

Does 1/8th really hold up? .120 or .250? Lightest as possible...

.120 is too thin, .250 too heavy and unnecessary. .188 is just right.

I have .125" wall on my K5...landed on em hard a few times and they've held up. They do have some small dents on the underside, but overall have done well. My next set will be .188 wall though. I remove the rockers and weld em to the body though...so not much help for you on that part.

I had 1.75" x .120 wall tube bumpers. Never hit anything with them though. I had box tube bumpers many years ago and they were 2" x 8" x .125" wall. I got rear ended really badly when i had those bumpers and the rear bent inward about 1" at the far corner.

Honestly .125" is damn strong...

I wouldn't hesistate to use it again, because usually the shape and how it's built is almost more important than the thickness of the material.

Unsupported, or poor design...1/4" for sure. :D
