well my blazer has a little rust, as of right now i orderded some lmc patch panals (the front lower 1/4 panal) well i am going to replace that and i know that my rockers have rust on them, im trying to debate to leave them alone right now. or replace them with factory rockers, how hard is that? or sliders, how hard is that? here are a couple of pics of my rust http://coloradok5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=134997

any comments would be aprreciated

thx -steve

Sliders are a lot more expensive then replacement rockers. I just priced out 2x4x3/16th hot rolled tube to replace my suburbans rockers and it was 175$ delivered for 24' Having it cut to length saved a few pennys on shiping but the cut cost was more than paying for the extra steel. .68 a pound here in NH.

dont get the repairs. from the looks of the pictures you need the entire pannel.

you can order 2 diffrent pannels, the repair pannels, (cheaper) cover just the midsection of the rocker
the entire pannel goes up and replaces some of the door jam

Yah for the material i needed for my sliders i got quoted between $125- $175 for something like 12' of 3x2 .188 wall (3/16).
Then willyswanter told me i need to find remnents places for metal, I called around until i found remnents and used metal places. Simms metal.
I got my $150 worth box tubing for $20. ($.45 cents a pound or so).. its just a used metal place that has a lot of it outside, so i went digging and found some good clean metal under some stacks of 3x2. They also had 1- 15/16 HREW that would be like $20 for a 20' stick.
I got a sheet of some 3/16 plate 18"x40" for about $20.

When i did my sliders, in an effort to make it come out clean, I got reproduction rockers from LMC (cause mine were smashed), tacked the new ones in, then cut a straight line for welding in the 3x2 slider.

i looked through all the k5 pics and i cant find any rust pics ??

the white one right ?

its looks compeltely solid and painted everywhere !

good lcuk
