rocker panels

What do you do to protect your rocker panels from damage? I have seen more or less nice looking and protective rock sliders and also custom made rocker panels protections...but with what do you have experience or what did you make on your own?

I cut my rockers out and used 3"x3" 1/4 thick square tubing to replace them.
