I'm going to get a rockrod and was trying to decide what ends to use. Should I do like the writeups I've seen and go with the left 91 dodge end and the 86 GM end or just use GM on both ends. Does the the drivers side GM end (with the stabilizer mount) really weaken the assembly that much? I'm running 33's with the stock power steering. Is the added cost (special stabilizer mount, getting the different ends) worth it?

well I did the rock rod with the dodge ends etc.

I'd say if you don't have any problems with you current tie rod why upgrade??? but if you are going to convert then why don't you do it right???

because the tie rod on my donor 8 lug dana 44 is pretty bent...thanks though, I think I'll go with the dodge ends too.

don't forget to order the bolt on unit that attatches the stabalizer to the rock rod...

I bought a rockrod from rockstomper.com. Man I got that thing in and it is a massive piece. They say you can jack up a K5 and it will not break or bend. You can get it w/ opposite treaded ends for easy alignment or same on both ends. It is built out of 1.25 DOM. steel tubing then you can get a optional 1.5 DOM steel tube slid over that and full circle mig welded at each end. Thats the one I got. Man it is awsome. Here's a link to there site.

What would you have to do to make that necessary? I understand that it's stronger, but is it really necessary?

I take it that you never have had to drive home with a bent up tie rod. It doesn't take much to bend one. Drop off a ledge onto a rock. You'll see what I'm talking about.

Optional? I just called and ordered asked to order a rockrod...they didn't mention anything about an optional 1.5in tube being over it...am I going to get a weaker version because I didn't specify the outer tube when I ordered?

There is only one version of the Rockrod. You will get the massive sleeved unit.
