u going to use them as rock guards (like the add - keeps rocks from kicking up into the sheet metal) or actually as skid plates? i don't think there's any reasonable way to
to make effective skid plates - that far from the frame and you're going to have some serious plate-bending issues if actually used as a slider. you'd have to have some SERIOUSLY thick material to do that. Talk about HEAVY!

Do them out of 2x4 rec. tube(its a little different) with a 3/16 wall. My rockers are made of 3x3 3/16 box tube I have hit them hard and no dents so far

I am no extreme rock crawler like most you guys. I am just looking for something just in case, but everything i will do is gonna be fairly mild

Its always fairly mild until you get confident and them boom rocker panel gone.:doah: Even on easy trails, little bit of mud, slide off to the side, tree stump, boom rocker panel gone:doah: Didn't see that rock, boom rocker panel gone:doah: Rocker skids are the first body armor I would put on especailly if you want your truck to stay looking nice.

Considered some of the tube sliders that sorta look like nerf bars?

If you want to keep your rockers looking as they are that's about it for real protection as the guys mentioned. Otherwise it's cut out your rockers and have square tube welded in. Mine are already crunchy on the back side so that's what I'm going to do...then might have sliders put on too so the wife can get in.

well the reason I wanted to stay away from tube is I think nerf bars look like crap.

If i can find something made out of tube that looks good I will go for it.

So pictures Please:D

Personally I prefer round tube but you can make it out of any tube, square or round.

I was referring to replacing the rockers themselves with square tube and then having another set of frame mounted rock sliders under them. They keep the trees at bay, give shorter folk a step, and are the first line of defense against stuff aiming to eat your rockers. These can be square or round.

well I dont wanna cut the rockers out they are PERFECTLY rust free there is like 2 dents on the passenger side but thats it

So then have the nerf bar sorta things put in. Nothing else is going to actually protect them. They can be made of square or round tube.
