i've got a line on a pair of steering rockwells for the blazer. my question is what is the minimum amount of lift i would need to put them under an '85 k5 chasis with 47" ltbs. the truck has an s10 blazer body on it and cutting fenders won't be a problem. i know i'll have to limit up travel, but idk how much lift i'll need to clear the top loaders. i'd like to stay as low as possible because this thing will see rocks as well as mud.

I assume you are using leaf's since that is all everyone uses here. Can you show us pics of what you have so far so we can help.I clicked the link in your sig but it was still a small picture.

IIRC the top loader portion of the axle sticks 8-9" above the axle tube. not to talk anyone out of upgrading their rig but you could make some minor improvements to what you have and go wheeling a lot sooner. Rockwell's just create a ton of work. going from 3/4 tons right to them is a big jump.

get the truck running right. keep your eyes out for a 60. keep wheeling it in the mean time. If you go to rocks you are gonna need a lot more motor, they are really heavy combined with the fact you want to run 47's. you are also going to need a wider trailer. the one you have is too narrow.

take a look at all the built trucks that were at the crawl. 60/14 with 40-44" tires. it works. I'm seriously considering going down to 42's. I know Julian has talked about it. Kurt just got a set and Patrick already had them.

I'll help anyone improve their rig but some things are so much easier.
