roll bar from early 2nd gen????

Hey guys, so i put the smittybuilt rear bar in this weekend and it in no way protects the rear seat passengers. Anyways i was wondering if anyone has ever taken the rear bar from the early 2nd gens say 74 and used that in a newer year say mine 90. The reason i ask im headed to the dunes in a week and a half, and would like to take the top off. thanks

Last time I was at Silver Lake (a great many years ago now... back before they had reservations and all that horse hockey) you had to have front and rear rollbars in order to go topless with anyone in the back. In order to run with kids (without helmets on) in the back seat you had to have a rollbar with the the fiberglass top.
