How did you paint your roll cage and frame ???
And what kind of paint did you use ???

Spray gunned it myself
Spray bombs
Brushed it on
Paid a paint/ body shop

I'm thinking about brushing on rustolem or something like that.....

.

haven't repainted my roll bar yet, but I'm just gonna spray bomb it flat black or the spray can bedliner stuff from walmart

I rattlecanned mine and would recommend either rollin it on or spray bomb.It will be easier to touch up.Be advised it will take a lot of lookin to find the spots that are not covered good.

I have nothing to add but another question. :D

Once you have the roll cage in, how do you paint between the cage and body?

Put paper or something like it on the headliner to keep paint off of it just like anything else. Even if you miss some spots it won't be exposed to water or anything.

Here is what I used to paint my roll bar. It goes on with foam brush. I painted mine in the truck. I did not bolt it down, this let me move it a couple inches to get the best angle on it. It is tricky and takes ALOT of patience. I put a tarp down for the main stuff, once it was dry, I pulled the tarp and put down some paper to do the edges of the flat steel. IF you can take the topper off, that makes a big diff. I did not take my topper off. How you see it, is how i painted it.

I would strongly suggest NOT spray bombing it, if your circumstances were like mine (topper on and cage installed). Youll get overspray everywhere. If I had pulled the cage I may or may not have spray bombed it. I like the brush on stuff, it worked well. Less mess and overspray IMO.

With the pint can, I could do a couple cages Id imagine. I put two thick coats on and barely put a dent in the usage of the paint.

I'm going to be brushing on hammered finish black onto the roll bar we just put in our race car

Where did you pick the pint up?

I painted my cage with a pint of tractor supply company's tractor frame paint. Its thick!

I picked the paint up at LOWES. It was pretty cheap, under 10bux. Like I said, the pint will do a couple of cages easily and I put it on pretty thick.

I spray bombed mine and you waste ALOT of the paint in overspray. I used that hammertone stuff too but in spray cans.

Im building my cage to be removed for powder coat. Mainly for a really good base that will eliminate rust. Then so I dont have to try to color match it with paint if it gets scratched up, I will scuff the powder coat and paint over the powder coat with what ever color I want. Then when it DOES get scratched up I can give it a shot and it will match just fine.

Sounds expensive. LoL...Im not worried about scratches, ive got a TON of paint left over. lol.
