Anyone know of any companies that make prefab roll cage kits for our blazers

(79/89 K5)

From what I have seen available, you either settle with a crappy smitty bilt which might help out the front passengers in a rollover, or get one custom built if you want a real full cage.

The weld in kit for the front from smittybuilt is DOM tubing

It is HREW. I have one in my back yard. The steel they use is crap itself. It is a pain to weld. I have a low amp machine and was not able to hold a bead on the junk tubing, it would just blow through. I have hand built several cages and bumpers and the fit was perfect, the metal was cleaned, it just didn't want to work. I was one pissed off person because I take a lot of pride in my work and this is not how I want my work to look. I used the front half of smitty and a custom rear half I did myself, the rear half was fine. I would never reccomend that cage.

Thats weird because on Micah's smitty built cage the front half was DOM or at least it is some weird HREW with no weld seam:confused:

I thought the same the first time I saw one. Let it get a little surface rust and the seam will jump out. DOM doesn't show its seam outside even rusted. I was more concerned with the actual grade of steel smittybuilt is using. It was very wierd to weld. I have migged mild, DOM, pipe, galvy, even chromo, but this crap was just wierd to weld. I won't do another one that is for sure.

nice link Scott. I have a Rock Ware cage that has custom add-ons. I like it; seams stout.
