does anybody have a link for roll cages or ones that they have installed?

I have a 1978 K5, Id prefer a bolt-in if possible. I have no acces to being able to weld one in.

Also do they have them for just the bed? As is just a cage for over the passenger to bed area or do they only come for the entire truck, ie. front to back cage?

Thanks

I don’t think anyone makes a bolt in kit. Diy4x makes weld in kits and will sell you just the back half but you really need the front section to be strong.

Search this section for roll cage and you’ll get more than you can read tonight.

I'm no cage expert, but "bolt-in" does not lend to the same protection as one that is welded and tied into the frame. A bolt in cage is only as strong as the connections to the body sheet metal.

It really depends on what you are expecting the cage to do. If it's just for looks a bolt in cage would fit the bill if you found one. If you are actually looking for rear occupant protection it really needs to be fully welded and tied into the frame.

Most roll cage kits you will find will be weld in kits. It will come in pieces and you weld it or take it to someone to weld it together. The bolt in ones will help if you get into a slow rollover. Many times it will fail in s high speed accident. But I feel it’s better than nothing. You can get a rear half cage but it won’t be as strong without the front stringers into the front area. Many people tie the seats into it from there so it’s safer if it detached from the body. The better the cage is built with more ties into the body and frame with good triangulation the stronger it will be. What you are looking for is generally called a family cage kit.
