I had a '75 2WD K5 I bought that had rotted floors--the previous owner used aluminum roof flashing to cover the holes, pop riveted it on with steel rivets..
When I pulled the mat up,I saw every rivet wasn't doing anything, there was a big hole corroded all around the rivet head, and the floor itself was all white and pasty..
Putting two dissimilar metals together creates a battery once a little moisture gets between them--therefore its not a good idea to put aluminum over steel..eventually it will corrode from electrolosis..
And another ZHOMBIE thread comes back from the dead !..
