Got my new blueprint roller cam vortec engine running. I bought a new hei official gm crate engines from proform because it had the melonized gear. That hei lasted 5 minutes (no spark), so I want to know do I just swap a dist. gear from a vortec 95-98 block to my old hei? How do I know which gear is already in my hei?

Ok i took the old gear off, but the new one won't fit? Diameter is different. Is my old gear ok to use? It's a aftermarket hei few years old I forget which model

The gear i bought is .43, the shaft is .49. I also have an accel hei and another aftermarket one? Anyone have a part number for a gear that will work for roller cam?

Iirc, there were 2 sizes of gears when I swapped mine. I had to measure and order appropriately.

Used an original 1988 Camaro distributor (stock roller cam) with an aftermarket roller cam then in a stock L31 with no wear for at least a decade.

I'm pretty sure the gears back then were dimensionally all the same.
