I bought a K5 with one but it looks to be a custom job and I am not sure how much I trust it in terms of weight capacity. I was thinking I may beef up the fiberglass and fabricate some steel plates to glass in on the inside where it attaches just so I know it will handle the weight. It looks like hell, but is very functional and I do plan on using it when hunting and camping. Can't wait to use the sunroof and platform as a sniper position while gopher hunting next spring lol

Check out a company called Defender rack, I have one on my Suburban and they make one to fit the K5 too.

Ordered from Summit. We've loaded a gas bbq with 3 tents and chairs on that thing without any issues. Only regreat was not buying the longer rack.

Is that a Surco?

How did you run your light wireing and what do you do when you pull the top off?

Im thinkin about putting one on my K5 as well. Would be alot nicer for hauling the canoe in the summer. Is that a westin bull bar too?

Can we get more pics of that rack, esp how you mounted it from the INSIDE>

Thanks a bunch. :D

Yeah, it's a Surco rack. I sold the truck to my brother so i'll have to ask him to send me some pics. He added the 6 light tabs (4 front/2 rear) and the hi-lift and shovel/axe brakets from Surco. The lights were run though one drilled hole near the front driver side mount. It was then sealed with a silicone caulking (cuz it's easy to remove).

Here are the best pics i have right now.

Looks just like a ConFerr rack. ConFerr was bought up and is now the Defender rack. They don't look exactly the same anymore. But I assume they are as well made. If so, the rack should support up to 300 pounds.

The brackets on the ConFerr rack secured into the topper with well nuts. I've never had a problem with them holding or leaking.

I have one like that I'll sell. let me know.

Here are pics that he shot. The Key West salt air is a problem, but he plans to repaint the metal parts. The black paint has flaked in some areas on the aluminum, but this is after roughly 4-5 year of use. Also the wiring was rushed.
