Burb guys with roof racks, what do you guys stow your gear in. I was mostly unprepared this trip and had to just throw things together. I had some Costco totes and such. My extra fluids were in a milk crate and my tools were in a work tool box which I discovered this morning isn't water tight as all my wrenches were swimming in a few inches of water from the last storm...

I want a water tight set up for tools and another for extra fluids. Post up what you have that works...

I've got a 20mm ammo can bolted to the floor in the back of my sub where the rear heater was mounted. I keep a first aid kit, MRE's, matches, flashlight, etc. in it. It's not only waterproof, but you can rig up a lock for it too. They aren't too much at an Army/Navy store. I paid $25 for mine a few years ago.

I've been thinking about checking out the army surplus. I would need some bigger storage than an ammo box I think...

Check E-vilbay. They have 120mm and 81mm ammo cans somewhat cheap. Sounds like that'd be closer to what you need. Other than that, one of those Thule brand roof mounted cargo boxes might be what you need.

I'll check that out, thanks

Like the Thule and Yakima stuff but they bring a premium. Especially up here in greenie bicycle land
