took 4 rivets out so far.. 2 top on each side. I am going to lowes today as they do kids building days...
if you dont know..
home depot every first saturday of the month and
lowes every second saturday of the month..
kids get aprons, hd does pins and lowes does patches but the kids get to make all kinds of stuff...
I used white paint to spray a line on how much of the plate I need to remove.... to be flush with the frame....

Hey Root,

Are you fixed at the maximum height by NJ's lift laws? I remember your rig being so much bigger! What are the specs on her? For the longest time you've been running those ground hawgs. You must love 'em!

I am watching your rear winch install with interest. I want to put one back there too! There really are no commerial bumpers I like that handle a rear winch.

Keep up the good work. Get back to the Pine Barrens. Your truck is too clean!

yeah truck was higher..
12" susp lift and 3" bl getting rocks and 53' michs.. but nj changed their laws thus had to come down.. truck sat in the yard since 1997 till 2004.. december 2004 truck got inspected and on the road..

specs are
6" superlift softrides up front with ord zero rates
10" rear full leafs, took factory block out
4.56's factory
added d60 front with 4.56's
added detroitz to all corners

mild motor
350 out of a 1991 caprice police car
added vortec heads
professional brand weiand power+ vortec dual plane intake
comp cams xtreme roller cam (.458" lift)-did that to have torque from idle

I have msd 6al and timing control to add....sitting in the garage

rear mount was super easy...
35" long 3/8" c channel 12" wide.....
total price was $40
other places wanted $80 for a 1/4" mount!!!!!

when I first put her together... 8 junkyard trucks... in 1989

17yearsold1.jpg

in 1994 I added a 2wd diesel cab and bed
passengerside2.jpg

truck when it got lifted waiting rocks, and 53's
then laws changed in 1997

You weren't grandfathered by the laws since you were already built? That seems strange. C'mon down to Texas! Better living, better economy and lots of places to wheel. Best thing: Front headlights can't exceed 54" and taillights 72". That's it! Your old lift would have been considered small down here and the legislature dare not even think about messin' with trucks or there would be a rebellion on their hands!

C'mon down. You won't regret it!

I have never even been checked for light height. :wink1:

get that thing finished already. i want to see it.

its gonna take some time....

my basement flooded.. 3" water
lost my gaming computer
my video survaliance computer
tons of other stuff...
including that I just finished the basement... :x
however I did work on the truck today..
moved the passenger hanger back 2"
but my craftsman angle grinder died... they are good for hand tools but not electrical stuff...
but here ya go.. this is on my camera phone which aint great....
shackleangle.jpg

so now I have to do the drivers side.. then bob the bed :naughty:

I also scored a receiver today....
we went to a place that the guy was selling a mess of construction tools... so I saw it.. asked him how much.. he said $30... my wife had $17 on her.. and he didnt want a check (I dont blame him)...
so I told him I would be right back.. off to wawa to tap mac for cash...
10 minutes later im back and he said he was suprised I was back and 3 people were standing around it.. I walked up and gave him the cash.. he said. it was sold and into the back of my truck it went...
this hitch has D rings on it!!!!! :shock
hitch.jpg

well bed bob is on hold... lost alot of stuff in the basement in value and the insurance guy says it is not covered...

so I dont have the time nor cash to bob the truck.. .I still have to get my winch back in and hooked up to my dual batteries, get the receiver bolted to the frame and get all my msd stuff hooked up... then im going out to thrash about :D

I just walked out to look at the truck... before my shackles were on such a bad angle that when you bounced on the back of the truck the shackles were maxed out and did not move.. now the shackle moves forward and backwards.... should also make the ride a bit better.. I say a bit better as they are still 10" leafs!!!! :haha:

i love the redneck look seriously
huh???
anyway.. she is bolted up now (well got 2 front bolts holding it in place.. I have to still drill 4 more out..had an old drill and burned it up!!!!
I think it needs to be redone.. sits too low...
gotta go up about 2-3" at least.....
what do you think?
hitch.jpg

also got my dual batteries back in the bed of the truck....
I ran 10 gauge from my isolator to 1 of them....
all in wire loom and the clips to the frame...
3/0 cable connects each of them together...
I soldered the ends on and shrink tubed it all...
I like doing things right.. looks so much better..
shrink tube is sweet....
dualbatts2.jpg

closer up...
you can see that I still need to hook my winch to the left side of each connector....
dual-batts.jpg

This is my next target list:
1. bolt bed back down (it is sitting there)
2. wire winch to batteries
3. make bumper brackets (currently not bolted on right)
4. install msd 6al and timing control unit
5. wire switch to winch so I can use it from in the cab. I currently have a wireless unit but would like a hard wired solution....
