Just wondering if anyone uses Rotella T in other stuff other than their Diesel. Seems it meets the requirements for my daily driver's oil, and if it can handle a 6.2 it should be able to handle a 3.8 gasser?
I should be. Its cheaper!! But I don't have the green funding to get that much. Plus I don't think my apartment complex would like to have a 55 gallon drum of oil in my apartment!! How long would that take me to use up?
Yea, its just a bit thicker, but its not like I would be running gear lube in my crankcase!!! How much would it affect things, since you are the engine expert?
Youre oil pressure would be sky high most likely, your oil pump will probably wear quicker cause its working harder, you will have more parasitic drag from the thicker oil, etc. etc. There is a reason most cars call for 5W30 or 10W30. And no, its not just a little difference between 5W30 and 15W40.
I run 15w-40 Mobil in just about everything.
Come summer time I'll run it in my quads, warrior calls for 10w-40. Run it in my LeSabre, no oil pressure issues(summer), 10w-30 in winter.
From what I've read if you have oil consumption issues it could poision your converter. That's from the higher amounts of anti-wear and detergent additives.
Plus I buy it in 10qt containers and I don't have to deal with so many 1qt bottles.
