rotor/axle removal

I've been in the habit of taking things apart and putting them back together the same way. Maybe I'm a little obsessive compulsive.:D
 
i got the axles out and the work. asside from dropping a wheel bearing in dirt things went well. i'll buy a new bearing ang put it back together tomorrow.definitely a job that will be a lot faster and easier next time. thanks for all the good posts.

I'd inspect ALL the bearings...races. Dirty bearings can be cleaned and regreased. Look for burned, pitted, rounded rollers..grooved races..
 
if you never took it apart before id clean all the grease off with brake cleaner and inspect for anything that looks bad.as was stated pitting in the races or bearing surface or discoloration form over heating.the one that fell in the dirt can be reused if cleaned real well.whenever i do anything in the hub, i lay down a big rag to catch anything that would fall in the dirt.after you clean godd and if it all looks god regrease liberally and put back together per instructions above or reverse order you took it out with the right torque.inside nut to 50 lb ft andthen i rotate and do it again.back off and retorque to 35 lb foot.spacer in and then 120 on the outer nut.as to putting the spindle on the same way,sometimes if there has been a bent axle tube,people will put a spacer in that changes the camber to bring it back to stock.so it is best to mark it and put it back where it came from.sometimes you wont notice it has changed til its back together and the wheel is at a weird angle.
