rotor/ hub help!

Have you ever had an external hub 3/4 d44 apart to confirm that? I've heard it both ways. Makes me want to tear apart my buddies 76 lol.

I have never had an external hub apart but they were earlier than 1976. I had a bone stock 1976 blazer and it was small bearing internal hub.

i think if i can find a smaller OD bearing it will seat inside the race and allow the hub to fit where it needs to be.

It's not about trying to find a bearing that fits inside the race, it's about getting THE CORRECT parts. Trust me when I say this as I used to work with an attached auto parts store and I know alot about this.

The 3/4 D44 external hubs did get the big bearing spindles before 77, I have already worked on a few that I know are stock.
They were the HD 3/4 ton trucks not blazers.
I have never seen a blazer with a big bearing before 77.
No relation to the OP.
Now onto the original topic, yes it would be better if he cleaned all the parts, and got the right parts, and at this point after all these comments, if he can't get it right, the only way is to get a later model axle and tear it appart and compare parts to pinpoint which one he has wrong.
:dunno:

I'm not questioning your post. I'm just saying the spindle needs to be cleaned and polished BEFORE trying to fit a bearing. I am amazed at how many "it won't fit" posts there are and then a pic of a part that is covered in grease, rust, and maybe damage.
Sorry for ruffling your feathers, that was not the intent. But it will not happen again.

Calm down. We're typing, not talking. Even with the best use of emoticons, its a tossup if any of us get it right.

I seriously ticked him off one time, and I was agreeing with him. But the way I wrote it, could be read either way.

We are hardwired to interpret face to face communication. Or, at the very least voice.
When you are looking at the other guy, you pick up all kinds of facial clues and body language.
Over the phone, you can get voice clues to see what they mean.
Plus you can ask instantly for clarification.

Here, you read something one way, and then stew about it for a while, write back, and it might be the next day before you get a reply.

Meanwhile you are getting more and more insulted.

I have been at this long enough that I actually am beginning to see a modification in human behavior.
Back in the old C-serve days, not a day went by that a misunderstanding did not occur.

Here and on other forums, they are getting fewer.
I think that is a good thing.

Oh Yeah, and 73redblaze needs to compare the numbers on the bearings he has with either what was posted, or what came out of the hub. Or both.

There, now this post is on topic......:D

have you mic'd the inside of the bearing and the outside diameter of the spindle? One of the hubs that I just put on went a little tough, the other side required a little less force.

I'm not insulted, I simply am tired of seeing people trying to find out why a new part won't go on a rusted, filthy spindle or whatever. Clean it first! Not only will it make the job easier, it will make new parts last longer.

Problem solved, Went a got a slightly larger ID bearing and she fit like a glove! thanks for the help guys
