Rough country 2.2 performance shocks

My brother has them on his xj. They seem ok, but they are just hydraulic, not gas. I have only driven/ridden in it a few times so I can't really give an opinion on the ride.

I got 14" travel bilstein 5150's for $99 each. You can get the 5100's or 5125's for much less and have a way better shock. You'll only spend a few bucks more going that route. Just some food for thought.

Yah I plan on the 5100s, I was just curious really.

I had those on a tj with the rough country progressive spring lift. It rode night and day better from the stock stuff. This was on a lightweight jeep though. It handled really firm on the road comparatively and offroad had great articulation and the shocks seemed to let the suspension move freely. Because I also had new springs it's hard to judge the shocks independently. They did seem to be well made, and have large piston diameters. If you order the shocks from rough country you used to be able to get a jeep forum discount. I think it was like 10%. I have a name somewhere of the guy at rough country who discounted my order. All I said was I saw their discount ad on the forum.

I put new Monroe's on my blazer. I forget which ones I think the sensetracs up front then I have the max air in the rear which are listed 2wd only. I would like the fronts to be firmer, but I really like the rears and i only run them at 50psi and I get an inch lift out of them. I'm sure someone will tell me this is a bad idea, but oh well. They were easy install, look cool(painted mine rust oleum black) and handle great.

I had the rough country shocks, they were pretty generic, nothing special. I ended up blowing one out while off roading and this was "light" off roading. I have their 2" springs as well. I ended up replacing the shocks with some 5150s and the ride is great, a bit soft for hardcore 4x4ing (ill stuff the rear tire over some off chamber stuff) But on the road, its great, I can hit speed bumps full speed and not an issue. I also yanked my sway bar. So far this is a very good combo, for street and light trail.
