Recent the dually has been idling rough, or surging. It kinda sounds like it has a big lumpy cam in it. I've actually had people ask me if it's cammed because of how it sounds. It also dies as if someone shut off the key at more or less random moments. It's a hell of a ride when I'm goin 75mph or around a corner in traffic and it dies....it's hard to turn the Michelins without power steering.. :O
Yesterday I was out with the girlfriend at the river hangin out, swimmin and wheelin around a bit. There are some long, steep sandy/rocky hills to climb...lots of fun when the truck runs right. It takes a good run and foot on the floor throttle to make these hills. I tried one of these hills and it died halfway up...it did this every time I put my foot on the floor. If I eased into it, it wouldn't die, just wouldn't make it more than 50' up the hill.
I also have an issue with the fuel tank selector switch. When I back down off these hills, I have to play with the selector switch to get it to fire again. When I switch from one tank to the other, it sometimes dies anywhere from 30 seconds to 5 mins after I switch tanks. It sometimes will fire right back up, sometimes it takes up to 20 mins of ****in with it. This sucks, because at 7mpg, I switch tanks a LOT. Can I replace the OEM tank switch with any three position switch? Or does it have to be the oem style?
Is there a connection between all this stuff? Where do I start?
I guess what I really need to do to solve these issues, is to get off my ass and install the 8.1. lol
