rough ride

I have a 6 inch rough country lift kit on my 78. The name of the kit is right ROUGH. Has anyone here modified their lift to ride smoother? /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif /forums/images/graemlins/usaflag.gif

You could take leafs out, but that will drop the lift

If the swaybar is connected ditch it

If the shocks are totally too hard switch them

Otherwise it's new springs for you Charly !

I know only OF the operation/idea of leaf removal, I won't try and guess at which is proper

Are you sure all the bushings are well lubed and free to move? Everyone blames the spings when it's the bushings that are froze to the bolts. $.02

Flatter springs + good shackle angle = nice ride. What do you use your rig for, is it a daily driver or a wheeler? Do you need 6" of lift or would 4" do? What size tires are you running? Are you up for some trimming? Give us some more info here...!

I am just curious, do your front springs have plastic pads between the leaves or not?

The truck is used as a farm truck and mild offroading. Mostly swamps here louisana so flexing isn't a big issue. I have a set of 36 inch military wranglers on now. I may be able to get away with less lift. Is there anyway I could remove one leaf from the spring packs and keep it cheap? Oh yea I do have the plastic pads in. /forums/images/graemlins/usaflag.gif

I have the 4" rough lift. I removed the bottem two leaves on mine but that was too much. so now I just have the bottem one removed and it works fine for me. Just remove one of the bottem two and compare the lift lost vs the ride givin by eather leaf. BTW those tires probly arent helping much ether. /forums/images/graemlins/burb.gif

sorry! you could try pulling thr second leaf from bottom. leave the overload that should help. if the spring sag it probly wont be for awhile,like not the 1st week rough country springs must have a higher rate cause stiff seems to but the popular description.

I'll try taking out the bottom leaf. I'm goning to wait and do it when I put my 3/4 axles. I'm just trying to keep it in budget, my labor is cheaper than new springs. /forums/images/graemlins/usaflag.gif /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif
