Time to change the oil on my blazer (91) and pickup (84) for the winter. I normally run 10w30 summer and 5w30 winter. Last few oil changes were with Mobil delvac (spelling?) and a quart of lucas break in / high zinc supplement.
I know oil choices can get real personal but I'm wondering what you guys think of giving Royal Purple a try?

I am no scientologist but it is exceptional imo. I would use it in any extreme duty application but a tbi350 to me isnt one of those applications.

Be careful with full synthetic in a sbc... That stuff nearly leaks right out of the bottle imagine what it would do in a small block... Just kiddin it's good stuff I have it in 10w30 for when my 383 is broke in finally

Sounds like someone needs to discover the BITOG forums.

Be warned: it’s an addiction and you will be on there for hours your first few visits. Hours. Trust me.

I just had to Google that, but once it comes up, I remember how much time I've spent there when researching my oil questions.

i love royal purple (in a platonic way). i have used it in a TBI car with great results.

Does your 91 have roller lifters?

I used Royal Purple break-in oil when I first started my new small block 350. After that I started using Valvoline VR1 Racing oil.

Doubtful, it's a GM crate motor.
The reason why i ask, is because, in my case, I THOUGHT i needed a thicker weight, so i used 20W-50 AND ALSO because the engine that i used it in has flat lifters----- and 20W-50 royal purple had the high zddp requirement. Not sure if the other royal purple viscosities have sufficient zddp?

At 100k I swapped all the lubes in my Dodge dually 4x4 to Royal purple... gearbox, transfer case, axles...stayed with Rotella for the Cummins...the 6 speed shifted so much smoother, and I noticed the truck coasted a lot further when I pushed in the clutch...

I'm just about at 200k now and I will be changing all lubes with Royal purple again..
