a friend of mine gave me a new RPM gague but its written on it that its for 3,4, and 6 cylinders would this work in any way with my 454 engine??

also, what is the connecter needed to connect to the tach?

Nope, won't work. Needs to have 8 cylinder option. 6 cylinder tach on an 8 cylinder will read 25% higher. :)

Tach needs power, ground, and tach signal from the distributor. GM distributor cap has it marked right on the top which terminal is for the tach.

There is, but I *believe* some standard wiring spade connector will clip on.

X2...there is a male spade connector on the left side of the little square part that sticks out from the dist. cap. you just need to find a female spade connector of that size and plug it in and run you wire through the firewall and to you tach. you can fish around for it with the cap on or you can pop the cap and get to it a little easier.

It's called a 56 series Packard Terminal.
But any 0.25" female pushon will work.
