I tried using stainless 3/8 bolts with some washers ground down, but they don't fit exactly right. What does everyone else use to fit in the machining on this dif. cover? Button heads?

I just installed a RS cover on my 14BFF , and used button head allens:3/8 by 1 in i long IIRC. The other thing to consider and the problem i ran into(and im not the only one) was that 4 bolt holes didnt line up 100%. I ended up drilling all the holes out to the 13/32 to have a little give. Worked great. A week or so later i was talking with Trevor of WFO concepts who buys some of their covers from RS and says they have to do the same thing.

Ditto on the holes having to be drilled out on some of mine for my D44 front cover.

As for the washers I used what I think are called AN washers or something to that effect. They are just barely bigger than the hex of the bolt head but fit in the machined hole area.

X2. I just used lock washers which are the same size as the head. I didn't have to drill out any holes though.

Yeah I had to drill a few holes also.

I ended up swapping out the bolts for shorter ones without washers, worked ok. I will get some button heads with those AN washers sometime. Thanks for the input guys!

Drilling out bolt holes? There is no excuse for that. It's just too easy to get the holes right. I hope you guys didn't pay to much for those things.
