RTV for after market diff cover

Curious what brand etc RTV do you guys use for a after market diff cover? Do not want to keep resealing it but one time.

Curious what brand etc RTV do you guys use for a after market diff cover? Do not want to keep resealing it but one time.

I used to run the high temp red rtv but swtched to the grey stuff because it easier to get off and seals just as good. I only use permatex because its easy to find and its never given me trouble.

Permatex black.

Or use copper spray gasket on both sides of a gasket and button it up.

I was at Pep Boys recently and they stock a lot of different Permatex RTV products,and one was labeled specifically for having the highest resistance to gear oil..they now have ones for other specific uses like automatic tranny pans,highest resistance to oil,etc..

Right stuff it is then for the Barnes 13 bolt cover! Will stop after work tomorrow and grab some from the local parts store.

how many oz bottle should i get for the 13 bolt diff cover. there is 7.5 oz,5 oz etc.
