I've been tracking down all the squeaks and rattles. Gotten rid of a lot of them. The lid of my center console rattling is one of the last really noticeable things. Any idea where I can source this rubber bumper? I have one on the driver side, but not the passenger.

At one point, these were available in the “Help!” Sections at the local auto store. If not there, I’d try an Ace or True Value

Beyond that, we’d start looking at someplace like LMC

Good idea. Any idea on what to call it? Only thing I can think of is "rubber stop".

I wonder if something like this would work...

edit: found these. now if I can just find a smaller set lol

edit 2: gonna give these a go

Salvage yard item--many other vehicles used those rubber bumpers on things like glove box doors and ash trays,etc...tough to get out without tearing the cone retainer off though..if you can get at the back side you can usually coax them out.

A blob of black RTV works as a substitute too, just not as pretty..

Why not try some cabinet stops? You know the small clear peel and stick poly things that go on the corner of cabinets so then you Clos them thy don't slam and make a bunch of noise.

McMaster has some I used for mine. Don’t know if they are exactly stock, but they have measurements you can refer to at least.

all the other bumpers (ash tray, glove box, gas lid) are readily available. They're all pretty much the same size but I can't remember which I used on mine

What the hell!! Who would buy that?! The $6 Dorman pack is coming in tomorrow. We’ll see if any of those fit
I’ve seen a pic of the Dorman kit. Looks like a pair in there is close. Hope they work.
People have lost their minds with these Nos and used parts .

What would anyone do with a NOS box of these??

Stop the steady drip...drip...drip of gonnarhea ?..

Don't know why,but that "commercial" on Cheech & Chong's Big Bambu" album popped into my head as I read your post..

Seriously, over 130 bucks for a few tiny rubber bumpers ?..
Someone must be high..:screwy:..
I've bought decent used engines for less!..

Have a look at things like an NOS tailgate switch or tailgate locks. Well over $200.

If they can get someone to pay that for rubber bumpers, more power to them. Wish I had thousands in that case lol.

What hurts is I had chances to "clean out" old stock at parts stores and dealerships, and garages that changed hands or went out of business, and I stupidly passed on many of the offers...was leery of collecting a ton of "orphan" parts that fit only a few odball vehicles that hardly exist any more..

When my friend's shop of 18 years was sold by the building owner,he offered me a whole "upstairs" of new parts like brake pads, shoes, oil filters, wheel seals, ignition parts (and the Filko cabinets !),and a bunch of air filters, but I didn't want my garage crammed full of things I may have had a hard time getting rid of.

There was a Chevy dealership in one town I worked in that had a "clearance sale" before they moved to a new location...there was a ton of new "trinkets" in GM boxes like the one pictured above in a "free" pile, but the catch was you had to take ALL of it..my garage wouldn't have held it all..bet lots of it got thrown in a dumpster, after all the more desireable parts were picked over or taken..

I bought an oem GM 454 "badge" for the fender of my '72 Chevelle wagon, and never did use it..found it in the box in my room in a desk drawer I rarely open..think I paid like $10 for it 20+ years ago,at a swap meet, thought that was "high",but I won't be surprised if they have tripled in value since..
