im asking this for my friend, and because im also curious,my friend has a rubicon with a D44,and he said its a D44 center with D30 tubes and knuckles..and they spin all the time, he was curious if he could put older D30 knuckles on there as a cheaper "spin free" kit? he doesnt have or think its worth to drop $1200 on an after market kit

Don't know why you wouldn't increase the tube diameter and run 44 outers if you were going that far.that way you could run real lockouts, brakes, and most importantly have a knuckle with a real steering arm on top of it.

Considering a 60 can be had for 1200, ya, thats a waste of money on polishing a turd. no matter how much you put in to that housing, it's still got those tiny ujoints.

We're talking about a Jeep owner here. They want everything to be a simple "bolt on". :haha:

On a serious note, is this a TJ Rubicon? Or one of the newer JKs? If it's a TJ I think you are right in that it's a D44 center and D30 outers. Not sure on what is interchangeable though.

They will not interchange the ball joint spacing is way different

ya,it is a TJ rubicon,so it has D30 outers,so by the sounds of it,they changed the knuckles of D30s at some point so new D30 knuckles wont match up to newer D30s,correct?

Yep they changed the knuckles when they came out with the YJ
