since the rubicons use a 241OR with 4:1 low range, is there any way to swap those gears into a chevy 241? i searched on pirate and to my surprise, i didnt see anything about people even asking bout it. is it possible? or are the cases completely different?

241 c on the left, and 241OR on the right. I was interested and this is the answer i received. Good luck.

There is an Tera Low (IIRC) 231 4:1 ratio gear set that can be adapted to the 241. It runs something like $1200 though. :yikes: Donno if you can get a Rubi 241 for less than that though.

so then if you were running a ford axle, you could swap in a 27/32 spline input and it would work?

There is floor issues on jeeps according to the pirate thread its huge . Probably fit our trucks better , but looking at my floor , it would probably hit our floors too .

I know GM makes on the IFS rig a manual lever shifter for a drivers drop case , my 93 K2500 has the shifter . You could turn the lever over or use the GM lever on the case (just thought from looking at this pic ) .

The Tera low 4:1 kit will work on a 241c IF you machine the case to fit the larger planetary's.

so if you machine it, would it only work on the driver drop 241s or could you get it to work on the pass drop 241's as well?

I called Wayne at teraflex, and he told me that they machine a 1/4 inch off of the input shaft and machine the inside of the case to fit the gears. I didnt ask about a driver drop.

sweet. i wonder if you can just buy the gearsets from them, or if you have to just buy a rubi tcase and steal the gears from it. seems like reasonable option since figure a doubler is about $1k, and i know you can find complete rubi t-cases for $1k. would be perfect for a k5 and much lighter than a doubler, just wouldnt have the gear selection
