Rubicon July 2023

I have no clue about this area where the Rubicon is but is there a shitload of snow out there like I've seen in many areas of CA this year? Our mtns here are buried and I'm planning on snow til August or later in some places we camp starting Memorial Day most years. I was just curious if you guys would have to deal with snow in June still.

It does happen some years, but we will be able to know by late April early May

I'm driving thru to Pollock Pines and staying there the night before we start the trail. I have a room reserved at the Best Western there.

Josh and I talked about that a little over PM. I think everyone coming from our direction with trailers have street legal rigs so we were wondering about the practicality of leaving the tow rigs in the Tahoe area. Any thoughts on whether or not it's possible?

The Tahoe side has parking. Just keep in mind it's a pretty good hike from the tahoe side all the way around to loon. Probably a 2hr drive without any traffic?

yes, we have shit-ton of snow and it will be a factor come early June, possibly later into June too.

Me too , I’m gonna be relocating my battery to the rear of my rig .

There’s still about 10-12’ of snow on the bridge. Guys are going up there on tracked s x s’s and you can’t see the obstacles.

So... local guys, how is the snow pack looking? Is the trail going to be passable in June?

It's a valid concern at this point, there's a metric shit ton of snow up there. The other concern is the trail being shutdown because of run off requiring trail repairs. I'm sure Fordyce will be open :saweet:

I don't know much about Fordyce, but you're saying if Rubicon is a no go, we could still do Fordyce?
