welp just got back from a trip to the rubicon...and i dont think a blazer or any onyother fullside for that matter would be able to make it in...there are some very tight trails that we had a hard time getting the jeeps and chris's bronco through...i would have loved to have tried but there is alot more mods i need to do first..rocker guards (the gate keeper was takin out alot of em) oh yea if you wheel a pick up and you are out on the trail do not let anyone ride in the back...i watched a toyota pickup with people in the back roll over...one guy jumped out and the other got launched..and no one in the cab had seat belts on either so the passanger got her arm caught outside under the door and broke her coler bone (dmnb ass people) and we had one roll over in the group i was in. in the little sluse one of the guys in the jeep was tryin to go through and went right over on his top..no one was hurt..everyone had their seat belts on so no probs...just hooked up the winch and rolled him back over and we were on our way. we dident go all the way threw the con but we went from loon lake to spyder lake..it was very fun altho next time i would like to drive it!

i did get some pics but it will be a few days beofor i get em back....and david...i dont think i would even try with my truck....not with 10 bols in there...i dont think we would get much farther than the gate keeper because there are some spots we had problems gettin the bronco into and that is narrower than the blazer...

Heck yeah I wanna try it!

There are parts I have been to with my friend in his Jeep that I have seen some full sized rigs in there.... I wouldn't suggest we go nuts and try the Sluice unless we wanna have some skinny rigs... but there are parts we can do. Heck, if we bring Chris (the Hi-Lift King) and Matt (hey man, I gotta winch, you can do it, I'll pull ya out) then we can do a lot!

How can I miss you if you won't go away?

I'm in. I live in South Tahoe but haven't been to that side of the lake to check out the Con yet. I need to do some fender trimming and get some rock sliders. When do we go?

You guys need to talk to Burt4x4. That is his dream to make it threw the whole thing. More power to you guys... Sorry I like my rig with all the fenders it as on it....Dan

If it ain't broke.......Don't fix it....

I remember seeing a couple of pics of a Ramcharger that Petersons took through the 'Con...they made it but took some serious body damage and almost rolled it a few times.

I'd love to try it one day but I don't know if I could stomach that kind of damage...

Rubicon too narrow for full size rigs? I was planning on heading there or to Moab once my rig is finished(ready I should say 'cause we know rigs are never really finished). It may be a long ride from GA but I think it would be a good vacation for me and the old lady. Ive never been any farther west than Dothan Alabama going through on my way to Panama City.

Ive been on a couple of "Trail Rides" here in my local area and it is unbelievable the way some people act. Drinking and driving-on the trail- throwing cans out in the woods, It ticks me off because around here most the land is owned by farmers and they won't let you have the rides again cause of all the mess left behind by irresponsible wheelers. Don't get me wrong I like a cold brew just like the rest of us, but there is a time and a place.

If anyone knows of locations here in the South East where wheelin is okay'd please let me know.

"If it aint broke don't fix it" is like a 4 letter word.

I haven't been up there sence I was a young teenager but I have heard the con is getting eaisier cuz of all the traffic every year. I also hear there are 'go arounds' for the super narrow spots!?? Chaz did you see any of thease go arounds? I have heard of fullsize rigs going all the way thru so I know it is possable, if not then I will make it possable. I'll just bring Frizz with me and he can highlift me thru it!! hehehehehe

Steve Fox and I have been wanting to put together a K5 trip to the 'con, I hope we can fit! Really though, I know Trent Mcgee took his 72 through with some 36's and a 4", and Cole Quinnell took his brown turd shortbed through it, so I think we can do it. It may be tight, but that's the way it usually is in a K5.

After our Labor Day weekend excursion on Saturday I was thinking about heading up to Georgetown to camp Sat. Night and then check some of the CON out on Sunday. Any takers?

Really!!! Hmmmmm, Why Georgetown? Yes you can get to the Con from there but Icehouse road hits 50 so why not head to Loon Lake from there? Duno if the fam would be up for that my wife and daughter get kinda board with riding around after a while.....
If I remember the Loon lake entrance to the Con is right pass the Dam then up a slate rock hill...
If you do go take pics!!
