Is it possible to run the Rubicon in an unlifted Blazer without getting too banged up? I've heard you pretty much have to have some lift to do it but I've also heard you can do it in a stock 4x4 if you're careful. My friend is getting a lifted Toyota and he wants to run it in July. Any advice on preperations I should make before then? I will have my winch on by then for whatever thats worth.

Certain parts you can go on ok. But for the most part you will redo your body in a stock Blazer (heck in a lifted Blazer you will)... it's wide and the paths are not!

"To run the Rubicon" No you cannot or what I mean you can try but you will get body damage. You can go up there and fart around but to "run" the Rubicon that takes minimum of two days for most it takes 4days. I have never drivin it so I'm only speaking from years of reading about it. I use to live in Auburn and when I was a kid my neighbor took my dad and I in his jeep up there and ever sence I wanted to go back!! I will but not until my rig is FULLY setup for it!
Good Luck

So your saying you can't get all the way to Lake Tahoe in a stock truck? How much lift would I need? How much body damage are we talking about? Some is ok but this is my daily driver I don't want to come back looking like I've been in a wreck. Our plan was to take about 4 days and do the whole thing.

Trim the fenders all that you can. Get larger tires. (I read 33s are the smallest for even the bypasses of certain trails.) Go with no top. Pack extra parts(ie. front rear drive shafts, Axels, Hubs, Fluids, Tools, basically every thing you could think of and more) Get all the info you can. (weather, maps, talk to others who may of gone before.) Just my .02¢...

I know that there are a few guys that would want to try it this summer that are on the board. Hopefully they will respond to this soon.

I posted a possible trip to the "Con" in June this year. That may have to be changed because of the "Blazer Fest" at the end of June. I am locked front and rear, 38" swampers, etc and am expecting medium to heavy body damage. I have never been on the Con but have heard many stories and Chaz88K5 has recently been there and said it will be tight for me to make it through. He also said I'll take body damage. I have invited several people to go on the trip from this board but only if they are fully set-up as I am.

So in my opinion you wouldn't make it all the way through.
