Runnin a bit warm

Well I just recently installed an edelbrock performer intake manifold and carb spacer and the problem is since the install, my truck runs a bit warmer at highway speeds now , not to the point where it overheats, but to the point where it is irritating.

What could be causing it to be running warm like that, city driving and low speeds, the temp is fine but as soon as I get on the highway the temperature rises a good bit and it didn't do it before

Not sure if this could be a possibility or if it matters any but when I refilled the radiator I used nothing but the 50/50 mix which I'm pretty sure should be fine but???

try going to a 60 / 40

what temperature does it run on the highway?

Did you possibly put a hotter or more restrictive thermastat in it?

If it does fine at slow speeds chances are it is not your coolant. Check for vacuum leaks. If you are running overly lean at cruise it can heat up the engine.

It runs sometimes at exactly 210 or a a bit over that line. Used to run halfway in between the 210 mark and the mark before

Used the same thermostat from the old manifold

Will check again for vacuum leaks

is 210 really too high? seems like that would help fuel economy. then again, i run a diesel and 210 is real good for me.

Well checked the vacuum lines again and all good, and hooked the scanner up and its not reading lean, but before I started the motor I noticed coolant on the manifold and it seems to be coming from the thermostat housing, so I'm thinking I may have found my culprit, though it seems to stop leaking when the motor warms up

So I guess I'll redo the gasket and see what happens

Have you tried tapping on it with a ball-peen hammer yet?

Do yourself a favor and go ahead and replace the thermostat... it's like a $4 part with gasket and will totally eliminate it as a problem.

Were manifold and spacer the only things you changed?
Otherwise and in general, RedLine water wetter is great stuff.

Also the Specter housings are crap. Period. Get a stock one. The Specter housings have a really friendly sealing surface. Wavy.

Yeah manifold and spacer were the only things changed and I have one of the stock cast iron housings
