What's the worst case scenario driving with stock 3.73 and 38.5 longer then 2 hours and what can I break

As long as the tranny isn't hunting to find gears, prolly be fine. If it's constantly shifting, it will get warm.

Assuming you have an automatic overdrive transmission, I would keep in in D/drive/3rd all of the time in town for back roads. If you get it out on the freeway at higher speeds you can try overdrive. If it constantly wants to shift between 3rd and OD, or if the torque converter constantly locks and unlocks, I would keep it in drive. As far as breaking something, the only thing that could be unhappy is the trans if it gets hot from all the shifting and unlocking. Other than that having 3.73 gears is not going to cause something to break. Though if you have a half ton (1500 series) truck I doubt the IFS is really liking the 38.5" tires.

What he said... Transmission heat would be a killer. Other than that the ball joints aren't going to like the extra leverage but for a couple hundred miles should be fine
