I need a little input from you experts so here we go. I've got a '73 Blazer and have always wanted to change it over to a 4-speed. A possible donor truck is now available which is a '76 Chev 3/4 ton G-20. If I bought it and wanted to move the tranny and transfer case over to my Blazer, would it be a relatively easy swap? I don't want to start this project if it would involve much more than the obvious modifications like cutting a hole for the shifter. The Blazer currently has a TH350 and NP 203 and 350 engine. The '76 is all stock from the factory. Thanks

What are you looking for - overdrive or a manual transmission? Because the 4-speed autos didn't start until the 80's and the SM465 doesn't have O/D. The extra gear is granny low.

I’ve done it about 35 years ago. Swap pedals from truck to truck. Swap the humps out if you dont want to cut the auto hump up. I think all mounts underneath would be the same. Not 100% on drive shafts. I had to make all new as I royally f’d up my rear driveshaft before the swaps.

If it was me, I’d get an 85 up and go hydraulic clutch. The 76 will be bolt in if you get everything from the parts truck. Shouldn’t even need to cut a hole if you use the trans tunnel cover from the 76
