Hey guys ive recently had my engine re built new big end bearings, con rod bearings cam sleeves blah blah blah , whats a good running in technic :doah:? how many kph before oil change ? Im keeping below 4000rpm at the mo , when would it be safe to open it up a bit :D any help would be great

On those TV shows, when they do an engine break-in they usually use special "break in" additives with the oil, so they don't really drive it much at all. Usually just around 30 minutes or so of run time at various RPMs, then they flush the "break in" oil and add conventional oil. Once that's done, they put it on the dyno and do their hard pulls.

Most OEM reccomendations I've seen talk about driving easy for around 500 miles (804 km), then do an oil and filter change. That would probably be fine too.

Your are supposed to do a couple full throttle accelerations to help seat the rings pretty much as soon as you get it on the road. Just don't rev it high right away and don't hold it at teh same RPM or high throttle for extended periods for the first 500 miles or so. Also, if you have flat tappet lifters did you break the cam in properly?
