I have a 85' k5 with the original 305 and computer controlled carb (quadrajet). It smells like it is running realy rich (stinks bad). I pulled 2 random plugs and they both look like the it is deffinately not running rich. What would make the fumes horrible?
All over. It could be under the dash, on the engine, on the firewall, it could be on the egr solenoid,. What I found to help, is isolate the vacuum lines at the source till you find which one is leaking. Then work your way out. Check the manifold.
You already pulled two plugs so pull the remaining and check them all out.The plugs are a very good way to check how lean or rich its running.Who knows you might find one oil fouled and not giving a good burn so your smelling it.While the plugs are out do a compression test.
