Running the numbers.

Okay, refreash my memory. Where are the numbers located on the engine (SBC) so I can find out the CID/year, and what it originally came in ??? The engine in my 78 El Camino has the valve covers and intake manifold painted light blue, but the heads and block are painted orange. So I do not believe it's the original engine. Kind of want too know what I've got in there.

How hard will it be too see the numbers with the engine in the car ??

PITA....and nothing less. Sometimes if you clean it off with a wire brush and a little brake cleaner it can be easier. Also try a little chalk from a chalk line. And a small mirror can help too
