Can somebody tell me if it is legal or not to run without your doors on? I am thinking about doing the quick release doors but was just wondering if it is legal or not. Thanks.

It depends on your state's laws. Here in CO all you need is one rearward facing mirror as long as your view is reasonably unobstructed. I drive around with no doors fairly often :D

I think most laws state that if the top is removable, then the doors can be removed too. So, when searching for the laws, you may want to search the "top" feature, and may find it among that.

I just did the quick release mod to my truck. Where can I go online to find out the laws in my town/state?

Search google for "motor vehicle code" with your state included in the search string. Some states have it under traffic code, traffic law, etc

Some states, like Arizona, have the Arizona Revised Statutes on the legislature site. Our traffic code is under "Transportation" (Title 28)

Ohio says the same thing. I looked and found nothing that says anything about doors. I don't drive mine much on the road, but I have passed a Highway Patrol car pulled off in the median and checking speeds with the radar and he didn't even take a double-glance at me.

I believe in some states (possibly CO) that you can not legally run a K5 without doors because there is no lip at the base of the door to keep objects that fall into the floorboards inside the vehicle. Jeeps get away with it because the have the footwells with the safety lips in them.

I drove my K5 around CO for 6 months with no problems with tube doors though and never had a problem with cops about it.

Some states will allow you to run w/o doors as long as there is a panel near the floor (such as with tube doors) to prevent things from rolling out on the highway...where they like to bounce off the pavement and imbed themselves in Honda windshields:doah:

if all you need is a jeep-style panel on the floor, get some scrap sheetmetal, cut to fit and bolt it in.

i do hate those things on jeeps, though. once a heep gets wet, it takes forever to dry out. i just park my blazer sideways on an incline, open the door, and goodbye water.

One simple solution to this problem would be to drill/cut drain holes on each side of the tub then plug the holes with rubber stoppers from Napa/Kragen, etc. Opening them up would be just like draining the sink. And no need to hang your doors on an incline. Personally...I'm going with the Herculiner 'cause I'm just too lazy to do either one.

the factory holes with plastic plugs are pretty good, and i drilled smaller drain holes in all the low spots on the floor, when i patched it up. but, after the mud's been flying, the holes get clogged. so, it's faster and easier to just dump it out a door.
