Russ' Turbo 6.2L build thread - Updated with Pics & a Problem

I have a sandblaster too, but no blasting media. I've been using playground sand, but I've found that it is too coarse, not to mention the silica it makes when it breaks down. I always do it outside with an organic respirator on, but I still would rather use something else...

Where do you get your media from?

I wouldn't run it like that either...can't you order up a set of short coarse thread injectors and carry on though? I don't recall rebuilt injectors being all that spendy.

Also, maybe i missed it, but what turbo set-up are you trying to use?

Rene

Nope not available. I ran into the same issue. Have the complete 6.5 turbo setup but the damn long course thread injectors wont let me install it. They only made the fine thread injectors in the long and short version.

I get it from Part Stop, don't know if there are any in town, but they have several grades of sand + glass beads. The second from finest grade of sand was $15 for something like a 40kg bag . . .

Well, I found a good set of 6.5L heads to put on the engine. They were recently overhauled by a local shop that has a way of installing a valve guide into the head to protect against leaks from the cooling passage into the combustion chamber. They were used, so I need to hose em them off, but don't need any additional machining or parts :D

Also ordered a pair of FelPro head gaskets for a 6.5L, and a set of ARP head studs. The gasket set is supposed to be in by Saturday, but there is a 4 week wait on the studs, unless Napa was able to expedite them somehow. Yes, I can get them faster online, but I can't get them at cost online, and not have to worry about shipping or brokerage charges :D

So, in 4 weeks I should have my engine back together, and running :D The fella I bought the heads from told me to bring the engine by his shop once I get it all back together, and he will set the timing on it for me using the proper shop tools

Curious how much you got the ARP studs for...

I didn't get nicked for brokerage when I got mine from Summit. They were here in 4 days and cost me just the GST when they arrived.

I paid 148.24 though Napa with my discount. Normal cost would have been just over 200 for most anyone else.

I looked on Summit but didn't see them listed on their website, otherwise I'd have gone with them just to have the studs here sooner than later...

I looked on Summit but didn't see them listed on their website said:
159.95 + 11.95 shipping
doesn't show up under 6.2 parts, have to punch in part number 130-4062 to find them. same price i found at performance parts .com

That's what I paid, came to $280 with a few other parts I got at the same time...head gaskets, intake set, shipping and GST.
