Heya again. Just a quick question.... I think... no telling on this board. My brush guard is a cool two tone rust/chrome color. Could I just grind down the rust and chrome and paint the thing black or would it be more involved than that?

yep, you can
the trick is getting an even surface finish... a wire wheel will work better than a grinding wheel for that... then sandpaper
you should be able to strip it down to bare steel, then prime and paint and you're done
