Hey guys,
I just pulled my door to replace the hinge pins and bushings (holy crap those suckers were stuck in there good). Needless to say, I found rust behind the lower hinge. I could not remove the pin in the lower hinge because it would have ripped the steel as I punched out the pin. It is this bad on both sides of the truck.

How can I go about removing / repairing this?

Start reading around post #40 for the door hinges... ;)

Maybe #119 if you want to go straight to the punch line... :D

There's probably a bit of heartbreak ahead for you. Rust is a fact of life on these trucks, and it's usually covered up with pretty paint. The hard part will be deciding how deeply you want to dig to remove it. If the hinge is rusty, the floors probably are too...and so are the cab supports and inner rockers.

.....and so it goes. :doah:

Wow... You have some serious skills. I am feeling very intimidated now ;) I agree, I am in for a long project!

My main goal for this truck is to make it a reliable every day driver.

I am very new to this but I really want to learn how to do it. I need to find someone to teach me how to fabricate like you have done. Maybe to start I can find a shop to do a portion of the work and I can watch how they do it. I am sure that you have many years of practice at it ;)

Great job by the way man. How awesome.

Nice looking rig and welcome aboard. Hopefully you will use your K5 for a couple years before it becomes like most on this site.

lol, ain't that the truth!
try not to get too ambitious until you've at least driven it for awhile. once you start down that road, you're looking at years, not days before you can drive it again. :doah:

Maybe I will need to buy two then ;) One to work on and one to drive! ...then rotate...
