Has any body used any of these products?
I am refinishing the roof on the blazer and it just had light surface rust that all sanded off,was not sure if I should put some sort of rust stuff on it before primer and paint,or just prime and paint???

I would put some converter on it. There can still be rust elements even if it looks nice and shiny. You want to get rid of all the iron oxide because it will come back. I've used a few from rustoleum to Loctite, etc. Not sure if one is better than the other.

I've painted that stuff on there and then let it dry and sand it back off. I didn't want to paint over it, but I did want to convert any remaining rust. Someone on here might have a more expert opinion.

if the steel sanded clean, primer as normal...

if the steel is clean, fancy products are not needed, and more likely to cause problems than help the issue...

The steel did sand clean, smooth,no divots or pick holes at all,do prime and paint should do it,,,,,,,I hope

good self etcher or epoxy, etc and carry on...

While the expert is on....

When you sand it clean and smooth, but still see some dark spots where the rust used to be, should you address it somehow, or just carry on? Technically, the dark spots still contain rust.

correct.. pitting... if you can't mechanically remove it with a grinder/sander/blasting, than you want to treat it... acid or at least a converter than resanded... media blasting bein g the preffered method...

ryoken is God but I have add I always used Triple Etch in the past and had great results. So much so we used it on the DP Suburban on the roof and hood. Time will tell if it is just as good now as 25 years ago. It is sold in quarts and gallon at NAPA.

TRIPLE ETCH® 6877 is a ready-to-use conversion coating. 6877 deposits a layer of zinc phosphate on the metal surface for excellent corrosion resistance and to promote paint adhesion.
