Hello, i am new to the the form life...I have a 87K5 with some rust. I was wondering what is the best way to find someone to fix it. I live in Wyoming. I was thinking about getting the rust addressed this winter.

I would assume there have to be quite a few people in this form with the experience on these types of body's.

Yeah I feel your pain there... looks like some rot in the outer rockers, the usual floorpan/gm groove stuff and the passenger cabmount brace. Not to discourage you but I struck out trying to find people interested in doing rust repair. Most body shops prioritize quick turnaround insurance work to pay the bills. Restoration shops are always an option but the one I was referred to had a 2 year waiting list. I decided to go ahead and attempt to do mine myself. Have you looked under the carpet, checked a and b pillars, body mounts etc? Overall it looks like a nice truck and welcome to ck5. If you decide to do the rust repair, this site is a great resource

Hello, I am on the other side of the range. I would think Laramie, Cheyenne or ft Collins would be the closest options from Saratoga. I will ask around and see if anyone over here is recommended for that repair. I usually do my own body work and I suck at it. If it looks good from 10 ft I am happy, the trucks are going up into the snowys anyway.

Thanks Guys, I have been watching some youtube videos and it doesnt seem too hard to cut the stuff out. it seems like the challenge is in fitting of the new pieces as they are not exactly the same.

I have been throwing it around in my head. I can turn a wrench for sure, I just don't have a lot of metal fab experience. i haven't pulled the carpet yet. I am actively looking to find a shop or some property to build a pole barn. I would hate to tear it down in the driveway and block the old lady's access to the garage. I just asked a guy i know if he would sell me his lot with a shop on it he said he would get back to me. If he does sell it to me I just might give it a try. I have a 85 or 86 blazer cant remember the year at the moment that I bought a at the time i bought the one in the first post. It has alot of rust i might practice on it i only paid $750 for it. Thanks for the welcoming.

Hey thanks. I was i guess hoping to find a guy that does the work in his garage or somthing. I was thinking it would be great to get all the cancer out. My local guy told me $20k guestimate if he tore it down fixed the rust and did the body work. Thats a little rich for me. If you hear anything please let me know.

Hope you find a good place to help you out. If you decide to go it alone, starting a build thread is a good way to get help along the way. Best of luck to you. I've got a long way to go on mine but it's been alot of fun and I've learned a bunch of stuff
